Urban Distribution Services

Urban Distribution Services

Distribution of books are the same and different for African American authors and publishers.

The books are the same since all authors want to reach the largest amount of readers as possible, regardless of race. AA publishers are no different. Since many of the Borders and Barnes and Noble stores didn't stock all authors, black wholesalers became specialist in selling AA books.

The digital distribution model has leveled the playing field. Our digital partners include Apple (ibookstore), Amazon (kindle), Barnes and Noble (Nook), Overdrive (Libraries), Kobo and your own website. The setup fee is $99 and includes basic format for ibookstore.  The same file can be used for other digital formats. To participate pay the fee and send doc file for submission.

Book vendors and sellers took up space on the street and many have started bookstores and book distribution companies to sell black authors. The books are sold to consumers in a variety of methods.

The urban distribution model works best for books that will sell on the street and appeal to the many diverse consumers of the urban community.

To participate in one of our distribution programs, send the books or contact us.

Additional features of the distribution program are below:

We will handle your orders from wholesalers and bookstores including shipping, invoicing, collecting, handling returns, timely reports and warehousing (quantities and cost to be determined).

Your title(s) will be added to our on-line catalog.

Publishers can have representation at Book Expo and other trade shows for a small fee.

There will be a one-time administrative fee of $125 to add a title to the Ingram and Baker & Taylor data base.

You will receive 30% of the net sales ... list price less returns. There will be a 5% restocking fee for all returns.

There is no charge to be included in the distribution (hard products) program and online catalog. We only get paid when your book, CD, DVD or mp3 artwork sells.

There is a cost to be included in printed catalogs that are marketed to booksellers and non-traditional media outlets as well as advertisements on websites.
